Social media also offers entertainment, like funny videos or useful tips. Another reason is convenience—it’s easy to send messages or share photos instantly. Many people also enjoy following celebrities or news updates. For example, during the Olympics, I followed the highlights on social media to keep up. Overall, social media makes communication fast and enjoyable, which is why so many people like it.

   Many things are popular, such as short videos, memes, travel photos, and food posts. For example, on TikTok, dance challenges and funny skits often go viral. On Instagram, beautiful travel pictures or café photos get lots of likes. People also enjoy sharing pets, like cats and dogs, because they are cute. Recently, I noticed educational content, like English learning tips or cooking tutorials, is also becoming popular. For example, I watched a short video teaching easy recipes, and it was really useful. So, popular things on social media are usually entertaining, eye-catching, and easy to share.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using social media?

   優點是溝通方便、資訊獲取快速、娛樂性強。例如，我使用Facebook 與海外親戚保持聯繫。但缺點是浪費時間、假新聞氾濫、面對面交流減少。例如，有時我會在Instagram 上刷螢幕太久而忘記學習。另一個問題是，有些人只展現生活中「完美」的一面，這會給別人帶來壓力。所以，社群媒體很有用，但人們需要控制時間，謹慎對待資訊。最好明智地使用它，不要過度沉迷。

   The advantages are easy communication, quick access to information, and entertainment. For example, I use Facebook to keep in touch with my relatives abroad. But the disadvantages include wasting time, fake news, and less face-to-face interaction. For instance, sometimes I scroll too long on Instagram and forget to study. Another problem is that some people only show the “perfect” side of life, which makes others feel stressed. So, social media is helpful, but people need to control their time and be careful about information. It’s best to use it wisely and not become too addicted.

4. What do you think of making friends on social media?

   我認為在社群媒體上交朋友有好處，但也有風險。從正面的一面來看，它能讓人們遇到志趣相投的人。例如，我曾經加入一個線上英語學習小組，並結識了一個來自日本的朋友。我們現在仍然在網上一起練習。然而，這可能很危險，因為有些人對自己的身份並不誠實。與面對面交流相比，建立信任更加困難。所以，我認為在網路上交朋友是可以的，但我們應該謹慎，如果友誼發展到認真的地步，就盡量在現實生活中見面。

   I think making friends on social media can be good, but also risky. On the positive side, it lets people meet others with similar interests. For example, I once joined an online English learning group and made a friend from Japan. We still practice together online. However, it can be dangerous, because some people are not honest about who they are. It’s harder to build trust compared to meeting face-to-face. So, I think it’s okay to make friends online, but we should be careful and try to meet in real life if the friendship becomes serious.
